Sandy's Story
Meet Sandy(aka Sandman)!

He and his sister, Deb (aka Big Debra), are a pair of clowns overflowing with sniffs and love. We recently pulled them from one of our rescue partners in southern Indiana, where they were in a shelter environment for about two years.

They'll pretend they don't hear you, too busy sniffing every corner and crevice they come across, until you turn around and suddenly they're lumbering towards you to give kisses straight to the face.

They don't seem to care much about playing (at least with each other, or you, from what we've seen so far), but they are super content just to coexist with each other, ensuring they achieve the most thorough sniffspection possible.

Sandy recently went on a Dog Day Out with a couple of our volunteers. Here's what they had to say, "Sandy! This good-looking pup is a big boy, so we were prepared to be pulled the whole walk — but he surprised us by being incredibly chill. He walked comfortably on a shorter leash and kept a steady pace, only tugging once when he spotted a squirrel. Even then, he was very easy to redirect. He’s an intelligent, sweet gentleman of a dog who would love learning something new every day!"

They are available to be adopted separately or as a pair.

Male
3 years
Treeing Walker Coonhound (mix?)

---------------------------------------------------
Interested in adopting? The BEST way to adopt is to come meet the pet in person at the shelter and fill out an application while you’re here. No appointment needed!

Please note: in-person adopters who have already met the animal get first priority, and sometimes pets are adopted before we’re able to contact online applicants.

Hours: 11am-7pm Tuesdays & Fridays
11- 4pm All Other Days
