Sandy

Sandy is a pert, outgoing little girl who likes nothing better than to be held and carried about. She certainly likes her brothers, but she likes her people even more. She is personality plus and will bring a spark to any home that is lucky enough to make her part of the family. She was surrendered along with her 2 siblings. Her family lived in a small community and they had too many dogs, (and had a new baby born the day we got the pups) . The owner knew he couldn’t find good homes for all the pups so he asked if we could help get his adult dogs altered and find homes for these three pups. We happily agreed. Puppies arrived well fed and well socialized. They look huge in their pictures, but they are tiny little pups. Sandy weighed just over 5# on 9-10-2026 and the vet thinks she is 10 weeks old. We believe will be under 30# as an adult but her adopter should be prepared to love her if she is smaller or larger than anticipated. We don’t have a picture of mom or dad.<br/><br/>We are calling her a Chihuahua cross becuase that is what she looks like BUT, we did DNA testing on one pup from the litter, Billy. Sandy may have a different daddy because she looks very different from her litter mates. But here are the results for Billy. Top breeds are German Shepherd at 34% and Husky at 11 %. All other breeds are under 5% and there are a lot of them. Here you go: Border Collie, Belgian Malinois, Miniature American Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog, Shetland Sheepdog, Collie, Australian Shepherd, Chow, Samoyed, Alaskan Malamute, Chinese Shar-Pei, American Akita, American Pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Doberman Pinscher, Labrador Retriever, Golden Retriever, American Eskimo, Chihuahua, Polynesian Street Dog. We are guessing at her adult size and her adopter should be prepared to love her if she is smaller or larger than predicted. Sandy is learning to use newspapers in the house. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her siblings and is getting the hang of going outside to do her business. House breaking is started but far from complete. <br/> <br/>The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. <br/><br/>Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered by 6 months.<br/><br/>If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy.
