Sandy's Story

Meet Sandy!

Sandy is a beautiful 6-year-old Rough Collie weighing 60 pounds, and through no fault of her own, she found herself in our shelter after her family was no longer able to care for her. For a dog who has always known the comfort of a home, the sights, sounds, and constant activity of shelter life have been a difficult adjustment.

Despite everything, Sandy remains the sweet, gentle soul she's always been. She greets people with kind eyes and a hopeful heart, quietly waiting for someone to see past the kennel and recognize the wonderful companion she truly is. We know that once she's back in a home where she can relax, settle in, and be loved, her personality will shine even brighter.

Sandy is looking for a family that understands the needs of her breed. She will require a securely fenced yard where she can safely explore and enjoy time outside. She would also do best in a home with another friendly dog to help her feel confident and provide companionship. Home ownership is required, and previous Rough Collie or herding breed experience is strongly preferred so she can continue to thrive in a home that understands her.

If you've been searching for a loyal best friend with a heart as beautiful as her fluffy coat, Sandy is ready to start her next chapter with the comfort and security she deeply deserves.

Applications can be submitted at www.southsidespca.org

Southside SPCA's Adoption Policy
Cats: Applications can be found on our website AND the Petsmart adoption stand located on CarMia Way off Midlothian Turnpike in Richmond’s southside. You are welcome to visit with the adoptable cats and kittens at Petsmart anytime during store hours. An adoption counselor will gladly schedule an appointment for an approved applicant to meet cats outside of the cage, we can generally work around your availability. Please note that the Petsmart staff does not show our cats. Petsmart is kind enough to provide the site to house our adoptable cats and kittens while they await adoption. Adoption of cats or kittens at the shelter will be by appointment with an approved application. Dogs: Applications can be found on our website or at one of our Petsmart adoption events. We often receive several applications per dog. Applications are reviewed by an adoption’s team that determines the best applicant for the dog. Once approved you will be contacted by an adoption counselor and an appointment will be scheduled at the shelter or at an adoption event. We can generally schedule appointments any day of the week during shelter hours. We try to respond to approved applicants within 24 hours. Please note that if you are not contacted for a particular dog or cat, it could mean multiple applications were received or that dog or cat is no longer available. Please keep watching our website and Facebook. Thank you for your interest and patience. We have a staff that is very dedicated and hard working. Our goal is to provide the best adoption experience for the adopters and the animals in our care. www.southsidespca.org
