Sammy & Sadie-ADOPTION PENDING Maltese & Poodle Mix Boulder, CO

The story of Sadie and Sammy is becoming all too common in today's world. They were the happy pups of an elderly woman who passed away without leaving a will or any directives on what should happen to her dogs. Once the immediate family determined that they weren't interested in helping, Sadie and Sammy were transferred to a very scary urban Denver shelter. It was the woman's neighbor who ended up being so kind and helpful that he removed the dogs from the shelter and brought them to Farfel's Rescue in Boulder.

Sammy is a beautiful and sweet as can be 10 year old, 7 lb Maltese/Poodle mix (Maltipoo) with all the wonderful traits that make this mix one of the most popular available today. This little guy is a kind soul that just wants to be loved, cuddled and the best friend of his favorite people. There's no drama with Sammy...he is just pure love and wants to share this devotion with all that are kind to him. Sammy is a bonded pair with Sadie and together they're a duo that are funny, silly and nothing but irresistible in every way!

Sammy is back on meds for his heart that he hadn't received while at the shelter. He's doing so much better and back to his happy and snuggly self. Whoever ends up opening their home to Sammy will need to continue this regimen of heart medication. He's also very thin at this point so his protocol will have to include yummy food/treats that will speak to his need to gain weight.


Sadie is a super-sweet and often silly/funny Maltese/Poodle mix weighing 5 lbs and approximately 10 years old. Sadie is the more outgoing of these two babies and so entertaining (who needs TV when sweet Sadie is around!) She loves to interact with her family (including other dogs) and let them know how much she loves them. Sadie is very cuddly and derives huge pleasure from her time with Sammy and her family members.

Sadie has received a clean bill of health from the vet and is a happy and healthy girl!

These pups were originally in a high-kill Texas shelter (about 7 years ago) scheduled for euthanasia due to lack of space. They were recognized for their sweet personalities and just about perfect behavior...therefore earning a transport ticket to Colorado and an opportunity for brand new lives. Sammy and Sadie were recognized as a bonded pair and adopted out together at that time.

Now, after their human mom's passing, Farfel's Rescue is searching again for guardians that will love and nurture Sammy and Sadie for the rest of their lives.

We're searching for a very loving and gentle family...it seems that retirees or a dog-crazy younger family that works from a home-based office would be perfect for these two lovebugs. If given the time and opportunity, Sammy and Sadie would be the most bonded and devoted duo anyone could imagine. They would be overjoyed with time-spent with their family...going on neighborhood walks to socialize, window-shopping and fun times at dog-friendly spots would speak to the engaging natures of these two pups. Since they only weigh 5 lbs each, they're so portable, that you can scoop them up into a front or back pack or stroller, take them along on a car ride adventure or people-watching at a pet-friendly coffee shop would be so much fun.

Once Sammy and Sadie find their forever family, these two will have their dreams come true. They can recall the time when love was plentiful and belly rubs were the order of the day....they always return this sweetness a million times over. Sammy and Sadie are truly a case of two is easier than one. They're always ready to cuddle with their favorite people..but when the challenges of life calls...Sammy and Sadie are very capable of keeping each other busy and very happy.

Both Maltese and Poodles are recognized as non-shedding dogs that are excellent for those with allergy concerns. Due to their non-shedding coats, Sammy and Sadie will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great protocols for coat care as well as general longevity) to keep their coats cottony-soft, healthy and matt-free.
