Sammy's Story

Meet Sammy! Sammy is a 7-month-old, 61.8lbs, male Great Dane. Sammy is so handsome and a total lover! Sammy came to us due to having a broken heart but thanks to our friends at Purdue, he had a VERY successful balloon valvuloplasty! Sammys transpulmonic gradient went from 138mmHg down to 34mmHgm which is amazing. This means his condition went from severe down to mild. He will need to be on heart medication for at least 3 months due to how hard his heart was working prior to surgery. He will need a repeat echo in 3 months and is expected to be able to stop the medication at that time. From there, he will likely just need yearly check ups. Sammy is a teenage dane who is has been working hard on his crate and potty training. He is a friendly and playful pup who does great with other large breed friends!

The adoption fee is $700. This includes the neuter, microchip, wellness bloodwork, fecal flotation, deworming and all core vaccines through puppyhood.

If you are interested in adopting Sammy, please e-mail adoptions@thelovepetproject.org with "Sammy" in the subject. Please also tell us about yourself and your household.
