Meet Sammich L. “Legs” Jackson — also known as Sammy, Sam, and Samuel.<br/><br/> Sammy is the sweetest, funniest little guy with short little legs, a big personality and a gigantic heart. Sammy is truly a companion dog. His favorite place in the world is curled up under the covers, as close to his human as possible. He’s an excellent sleeper and definitely not an early riser; don’t expect him up before 8 or 9 AM, and on weekends he’d happily sleep even later if allowed.<br/><br/>During the day, Sammy is actually pretty chill and sleeps quite a bit. He enjoys a good walk, especially trips to the park where he can safely run around off leash. He doesn’t require excessive exercise although he would absolutely love a yard and a doggy sibling to play with.<br/><br/>Sammy gets along well with both big and small dogs, but he definitely has a soft spot for thick pit bulls, especially the ladies. He’s been to dog parks many times and generally does great with all dogs and people. He’s mostly indifferent toward cats.<br/><br/>He’s wonderful with kids, though when first meeting people he can get excited and do what I lovingly call his “torpedo jump.” (However not typically with the kids). If you simply turn your body away and ignore it, he calms down pretty quickly.<br/><br/>Sammy loves toys, especially puzzle or cognitive toys where he has to work for treats. Peanut butter is a major favorite. He’s a strong chewer, so durable bones, tough toys, and Kong-style toys are best.<br/><br/>He is housebroken, though occasionally when nervous or overstimulated he may do a quick little nervous piddle. Having male wraps or belly bands on hand during transitions to a new home is a great idea for the first few months while he settles in.<br/><br/>He’s very good on a leash, not much of a barker, and loves sitting by the window being nosy and watching the world go by.<br/><br/>When left home alone, Sammy does best kenneled and is excellent in one. I’ve left him comfortably for 5–7 hours at a time, and he remains calm and relaxed until I return.<br/><br/>More than anything, Sammy thrives with consistency, calm energy, and companionship. He’s still very much a baby learning how to be the perfect gentleman, and he’s made so much progress. He’ll do best in a stable environment with minimal disruption while adjusting to a new home. If possible, having someone stay with him in the home versus frequent travel or boarding situations would help him feel safest and most secure.<br/><br/>He’s a really special dog, and whoever gets to love him is very lucky.
