“Hi I’m Samba (yes like the dance) but ironically I’m not the biggest dancer girlie. I know right? I prefer sitting pretty and cozying up to be entirely honest. But don’t be fooled! That doesn’t mean I don’t have the energy of someone who sambas. I can get down with the get down! Do you want to see my toys? I have this bone that I LOVE to chew on.
No? Okay well no worries, I’m happy to chew on my bone until I get sleepy & take a nap (preferably on something soft or even in a sun puddle). I love food & treats - it’s like my fav thing (other than you). Mind if I come snuggle up next to you? I love snuggling up to my humans. Please don’t mind my snoring once I fall into a good slumber.”

Samba is a well mannered girl, who loves giving kisses to her humans & foster sibling. She’s a quiet girl & gets along well with her foster sibling (please note it took her a few days to get comfy around a new dog. Samba is not a velcro dog & will let you do your own thing, but of course loves when you decide to give her all the attention. She may be well mannered & doesn’t beg for food, & is great in a crate (seems to prefer it uncovered except at night), but she still needs work on her basic commands.

What breed am I? Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance.

Adoption Donations are $275 for an adult, $375 for puppies (a dog under one year of age), and $175 for a senior dog (based on the age of the dog). Adoption donations are to be made via cash, check, and credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards.

Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption.

We typically have adoption events on Wednesday 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm and Saturday noon to 4pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process.

Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
