Sam & Dean's Story

Meet Sam and Dean! These two adorable little guys are a bonded pair looking for their forever home together.

Sam is the Chihuahua mix who is 6 years old and 17 lbs (and yes he is a bit chunky! He should likely be about 15 lbs). Dean is the Dachshund, who is 3 years old and 27 lbs... and yes, he is overweight as well! Dean should be around 24 lbs. Both of these boys need to loose a bit of weight and are currently on a diet in foster care!

Sam and Dean were surrendered to our partner shelter in Arkansas by a woman who has surrendered dogs to the shelter numerous times due to ongoing hoarding issues. When they arrived, it was clear that these boys had not been receiving the care they deserved. They were significantly overweight, and their nails had grown so long and curly that they looked like little pig tails.

Despite everything they had been through, one thing was very clear: Sam and Dean have each other. Their previous owner specifically told the shelter that the boys have lived together their entire lives and are deeply bonded. They have spent all of their years side by side, and they look to one another for comfort and security. After experiencing so much together, we simply cannot imagine separating them now.

These sweet boys have been through it together, and we believe they deserve the chance to leave their difficult past behind and begin a new chapter together, this time, in a safe, loving home where they will both be cared for and cherished.

Both Sam and Dean are great with other dogs and in a foster home with 2 others. They are also super affectionate with people and total love bugs.

We know that adopting two dogs might sound like twice the work, but with Sam and Dean, we really think two can be easier than one! They already have each other for companionship, playtime, and comfort. They keep each other company when you're busy, and they come with twice the love!

These sweet boys have a ticket to Colorado and are ready for a fresh start. They have already lost the home they've known their entire lives, and we are determined to make sure they don't have to lose each other, too.

Sam and Dean are looking for a loving home where they can stay together forever. If you've ever considered adopting two dogs, this might be the perfect pair to prove that two really can be easier than one!

Farfel's Rescue and our Arkansas rescue partners would love to see Sam and Dean in a home with someone who works from home or is retired. We'd hate to see them left alone all day while their family works full-time outside of the home, as they are much too social for that type of arrangement.

We feel that an excellent placement for Sam and Dean is in a home where they'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and of course, nothing but love. A virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving training choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area.

Sam and Dean are both up to date on their vaccinations, have been fully vetted, are in excellent health, heart worm negative, and have been neutered.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pair. If interested in these gorgeous, silly and very cuddly best friends, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
