Sally's Story
BARRIE, ON - Meet Sally — a sweet, snuggly Standard Poodle who is looking for her forever family, and we mean it this time. This will be Sally's sixth home, and we are determined to make it her last.

Sally came to us carrying a reputation that turned out to be more about circumstance than character. Her previous family loved her and did their best, but anxiety in the home — on both ends of the leash — created a cycle that was hard to break. Sally was on anti-anxiety medication for a period, but it wasn't followed through consistently. She was also treated with joint support medications (Cartrophen and Librela) for her mild hip and elbow dysplasia, though those were eventually discontinued as well. Our vet has assessed Sally and doesn't feel she currently needs either the anxiety or joint medications — what she needs is the right home.

And here's what gives us so much hope: the Sally we see in foster care is not the Sally we were told about. We were told she was highly anxious — we're not seeing that. We were told she didn't really like walks — she absolutely loves them. We were told she needed to be muzzled anytime she wasn't in her crate so she doesn't pick up soft items and eat them (terrible advice, by the way) — she is gentle, cooperative, and a joy to be around. Sally wasn't a difficult dog. She was a misunderstood one.

SPIN loves poodles, and we know this girl. We know she is ready, and we know the right family is out there for her.
