Sage's Story

**THIS DOG IS NOT IN THE DIRECT CARE OF HAPPY TAILS HAPPY HOMES RESCUE...rather we are assisting his owner in rehoming him at no fault of his own. If you are interested in this dog, please fill out an application here: https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform **

Meet Sage, a handsome German Shepherd-Norwegian Elkhound mix who is ready to find a peaceful home to enjoy his golden years. At almost 10 years old, Sage is a loyal and affectionate companion who truly loves being close to his people. Whether he's relaxing beside you on the couch or soaking up attention, he's happiest when he feels safe, loved, and included in daily life.

Sage has a gentle, devoted nature and forms strong bonds with his humans. He may seem a little vocal when someone first approaches the house, but once he warms up, his sweet personality shines through. He enjoys being outdoors and appreciates a calm environment where he can relax and spend time with his favorite people.

Like many senior dogs, Sage has some arthritis in his hips, so a home without stairs or with limited stairs would be best for him. He's otherwise healthy and up to date on his veterinary care. Sage can be a bit enthusiastic on leash and tends to bark at passing animals or bikes from the window, so a patient adopter who understands that he may need a little guidance and routine will help him feel his best.

Sage would do best in a home that can offer him companionship, understanding, and a comfortable place to settle in. In return, he'll provide steady loyalty, warm snuggles, and the quiet companionship that only a devoted senior dog can give.
