Sage's Story

Sage #1075

DOB: 7/3/2026

Color & Breed: Gray/Brindle/White Basset/Beagle

Gender: Intact Female - Contract Required

Weight: 9 lbs at eight weeks

If you’re looking for the most unique basset mix baby ever, check out Sage #1075. This adorable gray/brindle baby was born into rescue. Her mama, Honey, is a basset-beagle mix and her dad was mostly an American Cattle Dog with a dash of McNab.

Sage loves playing with puppies, adult dogs, and even kitties. She’s a little feisty and doesn’t let anyone break the rules. She’ll come in for a quick snooze but then she’s back to exploring and finding the next adventure. This girl is smart and loves a good treat—so much that she managed to shimmy through a gate for a cat food snack.

Because we believe strongly in promoting the health of our dogs, MNBR does not spay/neuter puppies until six months of age. Intact puppies under 6 months old must be adopted in MN or within 250 miles of St. Paul in WI, IA, ND, or SD and with a spay/neuter contract. The cost of the spay/neuter is the responsibility of MNBR and reflected in the adoption fee.

Puppies are A LOT of work and a 12+ year commitment, so make sure you have thought it through and are fully ready for the responsibility prior to applying. If you’re ready to make the jump, visit https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoptable-hounds

MNBR adopts locally as much as possible so we can properly support our foster dogs and adopters if the need arises. We accept applications from within the following areas: all of Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin and other applicants within a 8 hour radius of our headquarters in St. Paul, MN.

Minnesota Basset Rescue (MNBR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dog rescue based in Minnesota. MNBR rehomes dogs from owners who can no longer provide their care and rescues dogs from local pounds and shelters. As an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue we welcome anyone who loves dogs and wishes to help hounds live a healthy and happy life. Our organization provides safe, loving foster home, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities while working hard to find them a permanent, loving home!
