Saganaki's Story

Saganaki, Pepper Jack & Farmer were rescued from a very sad situation. They were starving and living outside, dirty and scared. Momma appeared to be a white German Shepherd and dad appeared to be a Great Pyrenees. They may have other breeds in their lineage as well, but we're not sure.

Due to their malnourished state when they were first rescued, we don't believe they will reach their full size potential. We think they will likely stay closer to 75 lbs, but they could be larger. These kids were basically feral when they were rescued, but they have come a LONG way socially!

Saganaki was the first to come around and is quickly learning to be a more social girl. She LOVES other dogs and we think she would do best in a home with another confident dog to teach her the ropes. New people can still be scary at first, but she quickly warms up. She loves playing outside and is slowly learning what toys are - she likes to show her foster humans her stuffy toys and chews on the harder chew toys when she is bored. They are all just starting to work on their potty training, so they will likely need some refresher/training when they move to new homes.

Due to their breeds, these pups will need regular professional grooming to keep their coats healthy and avoid matting. Saganaki has more of the Pyrenees double coat, which also needs daily brushing.

Please make sure to do your research on these breeds before applying and be prepared to start training and continue socialization upon bringing them home. While they do have Livestock Guardian Breeds in their DNA, they have never had any experience with livestock or any training for this job so they are looking for more of a pet-style home.

If you're interested in adopting, please fill out our adoption application today!Approved applicants will be able to take these guys home as soon as they arrive in MI on June 6th.
