Special Needs? Sable is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Since arriving in rescue, Sable gave birth to a beautiful litter of puppies. She has raised her babies and is now ready for her forever home. Sable will occasionally raise her right rear knee when walking. She has been evaluated for luxating patellas and determined that they were not serious enough to even be graded, but this could progress over time. Sable will be spayed the week of 3/18/24 and ready for her forever home on 4/5/24. We are accepting applications to adopt now.

Fence needed? No, but she would prefer one. If you don't have a fenced yard, Sable needs controlled leash walks as the second her feet touch the ground her nose takes over. She's also always ready to chase a concerning sound.

What kind of home would be best for me? Sable is a happy girl that is all dachshund. She loves to play and has always lived with another dog, but if she has a human to cuddle and play with all day she would be just fine. Fetch is her favorite game, especially if she can run far for the toy. Sable would not do well in an apartment as she is very vocal about her opinions. If you don't have another dog, Sable needs home home during the day - she is used to companionship. If you have another active dog for play, she would be fine with you working outside the home up to 4 hours/day.

What is my personality like? Sable was lovingly surrendered by her owner when she could no longer care for her. Since arriving in rescue she has given birth to a beautiful litter of puppies. She has raised her babies, been spayed, and is now ready for her forever home.

Sable is all dachshund! She's confident, curious, playful, always on alert, loves fiercely and loves to burrow under blankets in her bed or yours! Sable needs work on her leash training but that could be done overtime. Especially if she goes places often with her human. She's very social.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
