Rya's Story

Hi, my name is Rya! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Intelligent, quirky, playful
-Can Live with Kids: Likely ok with kids of most ages. All introductions done at WHS to ensure everyone gets along.
-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - slow and supervised introductions recommended.
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes - all introductions done at WHS.
-Can do Apartment Living: Possibly with plenty of daily mental/physical enrichment. Up to counselor's discretion.
-Potty Trained: Appears to be
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required, but highly encouraged to help Rya refine her manners!
-Energy Level: HIGH!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Nope, good to go!

Meet Rya - a spunky, exuberant pup ready to join you on your next adventure! She’s incredibly intelligent and highly treat-motivated, making her a fun and rewarding companion for someone committed to setting her up for success. Rya thrives with plenty of daily physical exercise and mental enrichment to keep her boredom (and mischief!) at bay. And, as a doodle… well, she’s got that classic “a little bit of everything and we’re not totally sure what” energy. You’ll definitely see her poodle-level smarts, paired with a generous sprinkle of quirky, unpredictable charm because doodles like to keep things interesting. She’s always happy to show off her tricks, especially if you come prepared with treats (which, let’s be honest, is non-negotiable in her book). As for grooming - yes, the doodle reputation holds up here, too. Rya will need regular appointments every 6-8 weeks to keep her coat from turning into a whole bunch of mats. Keeping her brushed and maintained means she’ll stay comfortable and continue looking her very best! If you're interested in meeting Rya, please fill out an application.

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
