Rusty's Story

RUSTY is a gorgeous, happy, friendly, young (2 years or less), 11-lb. Chiweenie (dachshund-Chihuahua mix) with head-turning good looks and a sparkling, gentle personality. Rusty was locally sourced--on the elimination list at a pound right here in CT when he was sprung just in time and passed along to us--and he is neutered, vaccinated, otherwise fully-vetted and ready for a new home with some lucky someone(s). Because of his lonnnnng dachshund body, Rusty will benefit from the same careful protocols that apply to purebred dachshunds to protect their backs--avoiding back strain whenever possible by limiting jumping, stairs, etc. We can't assess Rusty's free-range housebreaking skills here in foster care, but he is perfectly crate-trained, and to meet him is to love him. If interested, please email us at floradog2003@yahoo.com to request an application.

Flora's Pet Project's Adoption Policy
WHO SHOULD APPLY TO ADOPT?: We specifically look for potential adopters with previous pet experience and a verifiable vet history, and because we have no opportunity to observe any of our pets interacting with young children, we do not place them in homes with very young family members. With very rare exceptions, home ownership is required. HOW TO APPLY TO ADOPT?: Please EMAIL us at floradog2003@yahoo.com and we will send your our adoption application, which may either be downloaded, completed and returned to us by email with the changes saved (preferred), or printed out and mailed (address provided upon request) MEETING THE PET: Adoption applications will be reviewed within 24 hours (usually even faster) and if it looks as if there is a match to be made, we will make an appointment for you to visit the pet at his or her foster home at your convenience. ADOPTION DONATIONS: Adoptions are by voluntary donation, but we suggest $300 for most dog adoptions and $125 for kittens and young cats (we spend an average of $1,000 on vet care for each pet we place). CONTACT US: If you have questions about any pet, or about the process, please e-mail us at floradog2003@yahoo.com and we will get right back to you.
