Russell's Story

Meet Russell, a sweet gentleman, eager to please! Luck was on this guy's side when a family member reached out about the neglect Russell and his canine companions were experiencing and the owner surrendered him. While he is no longer skin and bones, he does carry his past and experiences with him which likely is why he prefers to be with his person.

When you look up "Velcro Boxer" in the dictionary, you will see Russell's picture! This guy is curious, border line nosey and prefers to be with his person and be included in everything! He follows his foster parents all over and responds very well to verbal cues. He isn't a wanderer when outside, however, it is not recommended to allow him off leash out of a fenced yard until he learns the lay of the land and relationships are formed.

While he tolerates the crate he does not like being left alone so an indestructible crate would be the best choice for him! He respects a babygate, as one was used initially when integrating & introducing him and BARC foster, Willow. Russell had no desire to jump or barrel through the gate when it was used.

Food and treats are a weakness of his as he will beg without remorse! In the same token, food drives his motivation and he will do nearly anything if a treat is promised! Toys do not interest Russell, or maybe he just isn't familiar with dog toys but he is always up for a good "boxing match" with his human or a romp around the backyard with his BARC foster companion, Willow! But, by no means is this guy a super energetic boy. He thoroughly enjoys his nap time!

There isn't a mean bone in Russell's body! This guy is a gentleman and while he was introduced to the foster homes chickens, his curiosity could definitely get thr best of him so the chickens are kept safe within their pen when Russell is outside because there's a good chance a chase could pursue.

In a nutshell, Russell is a sweet lovable boy who would make a wonderful addition to a family.

Russell is being fostered in Crestview, FL.
