She and her two sisters were found abandoned in a ditch in rural Virginia, left to fend for themselves far too young. Thankfully, compassionate rescuers and an experienced foster network stepped in to change the course of her life forever. Despite her heartbreaking beginning, Rumi has remained incredibly loving, sweet, and trusting proof that some dogs are just born with extra sunshine in their souls.<br/><br/>Like any Great Pyrenees puppy, Rumi is equal parts majestic angel and adorable chaos goblin. Her current hobbies include eating like its a competitive sport, chewing things that absolutely are *not* chew toys, performing Olympic-level zoomies around the kitchen island, and dramatically throwing herself on and off the couch for entertainment purposes.<br/><br/>Shes also a professional cuddle enthusiast.<br/><br/>Rumi can be a little shy when meeting new people, but give her a little patience, some gentle affection, and maybe a snack or two, and she quickly melts into a loving, affectionate snuggle bug. Once she trusts you, shes all about couch cuddles, pets, and following her foster siblings around like shes part of a fluffy little wolf pack.<br/><br/>With other dogs, Rumi is incredibly submissive and friendly. She happily plays with dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities and seems determined to make friends everywhere she goes. She hasnt been tested with cats yet, but her overall temperament is very gentle and well-rounded.<br/><br/>Now for the puppy disclaimer: Rumi is still very much a baby. Shes not house trained yet. Shes learning crate manners beautifully, settles quickly with a toy or bone, and has no crate anxiety though she still has occasional accidents because, again... baby dinosaur disguised as polar bear.<br/><br/>Shes also a jumper, a little mouthy, and already discovering the exciting world of counter surfing thanks to her growing size. Future adopters should be prepared for basic puppy training, continued socialization, and a lifetime commitment to brushing enough fur to build a second dog.<br/><br/>But underneath all the puppy chaos is a truly wonderful dog. Rumi is affectionate, playful, goofy, gentle, and resilient. She may need a little extra patience and possibly more than one meet-and-greet to fully feel comfortable, but once she opens her heart to you, its the kind of love that sticks forever.<br/><br/>If youre looking for a best friend who will make you laugh daily, keep your floors permanently fluffy, and love you with her whole giant heart... Rumi is ready to meet you. <br/><br/><br/>This is a typical puppy, She eats a bunch, poops a lot, plays hard and sleeps even harder. She working on her house-training skills but you can expect to have to train! She a quick learner. Puppies require training, so this puppy is no different. We highly encourage enrolling in a training program to teach your new addition good manners and to help her be well socialized.
