Rufus's Story

Kids - unknown
Cats - not assessed
Dogs - needs further assessment

Rufus the Goofus is a big boy who's looking for a breed savvy home. We think he's around 2-4 years old and is a big boy! Rufus has done well with staff but was very reactive to other dogs when he first arrived. We see this sometimes in dogs because they are so stressed and overstimulated by the noise and smells around them. We've seen improvement and we have a great helper dog that is working to help Rufus feel safer around dogs. A lot of his big reaction is behind a fence so he might have been left to his own in a yard for long periods of time.

Rufus is gentle for his size but when he gets the zoomies we all grab the nearest tree! He's a funny guy who loves toys but loves being with his people friends more. Since he's a white dog there is a chance he has some allergies as it seems pretty common, and he's gotten red and puffy on his face a few times. We started him on Apoquel for skin issues and it seems to be helping.

Because of his size and strength he's probably best suited for a home with adults only or possibly dog savvy teenagers.
