Rue Getty Yorkshire Terrier Thompson's Station, TN

Rue Getty is a very shy 10 year old female Yorkie that is not completely housebroke but making great progress!! She came to us from a backyard breeder situation (puppy mill). Rue missed out on years of love, socialization and training but is learning to trust with this new chance in life she has been given. Because of her timid and skittish nature it takes her time to warm up to new people and new situations.

Rue is super sweet once she gets to know you, however please understand this will take some time and a lot of patients for Rue to gain trust. Rue is a dog that can coexist with another dog but isn't going to be that best friend and companion that some dogs enjoy. She is looking for a human of her very own to snuggle with once trust has been established.

Because of her background and shyness, she will need a local adopter ONLY (Franklin, TN area) and a fenced in yard is a MUST. A quieter home with adults who are home most of the time and no small children. Rue is not housebroken but is doing well with her training in her foster home. Rue knows to go outside but doesn't necessarily asks or let you know when she needs out so she will do best with someone that is at home during the day that can continue her regular potty schedule at this time. She will not do well in a home that has a lot of people coming and going. We are ideally looking for an adopter with previous puppy mill experience for her forever home.

She needs a very patient family that will continue to work on gaining her trust and building confidence and continue her house training on regular intervals. She is not completely housebroken, but will continue doing well with a regular potty schedule. Rue is not a dog that will do well going out in public places like dog parks, stores or for walks. She does great inside a fenced yard because she does not do well on leash walks.

Rue is up to date on shots and preventatives and is microchipped. Due to her senior status, Rue's adoption fee is any donation you feel appropriate. Our adoption fee is set to a level to make adoptions happen. They do not cover our costs. Thank you for your generosity and interest in our dogs!

All dogs adopted locally through SGDR receive a free six-week session of obedience classes and a lifetime of behavior support through our Project REWARD program with trainer Ashley Reum.
