Hi there, I'm Rue! I am so much fun! Wait until you meet me and I can show you what a happy, silly, friendly boy I am. There's no place on the face of the earth I'd rather be than right by your side. I promise to happily soak up every ounce of attention you give me. I can't wait to be your loyal friend and constant companion.

I'm an adorable, 1 1/2-year-old, 57-pound sweetheart, with perky ears, the cutest face, and an entertaining, exuberant, delightful personality. I think I'm already housebroken too. I keep my kennel clean and I know to go to the bathroom when I get outside. I originally came to Wayside as a stray, about a year ago. It was tough out there as a puppy all on my own. I was adopted, but things didn't work out for me there, because I found myself homeless once again. Life hasn't been easy for me, that's for sure, but I refuse to let that get me down. If you're looking for an energetic, eager to please friend who will worship the ground you walk on, then I might be the perfect dog for you.

I love to stay busy, I'm highly trainable, and I'm eager to learn, so please teach me throughout my life. I have so much potential, and the sky is truly the limit with what I can learn. I will thrive in a positive, consistent, calm environment. Please guide me and praise me when I'm a good boy, so that I can learn what you expect from me. I love tasty treats, which I promise to take gently from your hand. I get so excited to spend time with my volunteer friends! I can be jumpy at times, but I'm learning to manage my excitement, staying calm but still so happy. I'm just a wiggly, bouncy boy with a tail that never stops wagging. I always come to you the moment you call me. I promise to make you smile and laugh at my goofy antics every single day. That's what I do.

I recently got to go on a field trip with one of my favorite volunteers! It was such a nice break from shelter life, which can feel stressful and lonely, and I sure enjoyed the one-on-one time with a special friend. I jumped right into her truck without hesitation, and I settled in for a nice, calm ride. We went to a local park, where I sniffed and explored and sniffed some more. We walked all the trails and checked out the pond and just enjoyed the fresh air and our time together. I walked great on my leash with my harness, and I listened really well. After our exercise, we had a delicious treat, which I loved. I was engaging and attentive, calm, relaxed, and happy. My day of fun was just what I needed to feel content and rejuvenated as I wait for you to find me.

I'm strong and athletic. I'd love an active home where I can get plenty of daily exercise to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I like going for walks around the neighborhood or to the local parks, like I did on my field trip. I'm still working on honing my leash skills, so I'd love to practice, practice, practice with you by going on walks as often as you feel like it. I'm always ready. I enjoy playing with other energetic dogs! I might be too much for lower energy or smaller dogs, but I'm quite popular with tolerant dogs who have a similar playstyle as mine. If you have other dogs or kids under the age of 10, I will need to meet them before we go home together, to make sure we're a good match for each other. I hope everyone will be comfortable with my enthusiastic and fun approach to life.

ADOPTION INFORMATION: All Wayside Waifs pets are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations prior to adoption. Please note that in order to make the best match possible, potential adopters must come to the Wayside Waifs in person to meet with an adoption counselor and complete the adoption process. All members of the household (including other pets, if possible) should be present to ensure the chosen pet is compatible with everyone. We do not place holds or do adoptions over the phone and we do not ship pets.
