Rudolph (Valentino)'s Story

RUDOLPH WILL BE AT PET EVOLUTION 1074 GRAND WITH HIS VERY BEST FRIENDS ON SATURDAY JUNE 27 12:30 -2:30. COME AND MEET, GREET, AND CUDDLE AND JUST MAYBE FIND YOUR NEXT BEST FRIEND.

RUDOLPH is one of a litter of 10 pups surrendered to PUP to be rehomed. Mommy and pups were living in a challenging situation where the owner felt it was best for the puppies to go into rescue to find forever loving homes. Mommy (pictured) looks like a scruffy terrier type and daddy was a mystery man who didnt stick around and man-up to his responsibilities. The puppies arrived at their foster home in good health and mommy had done a good job caring for them.

We had DNA testing done on one pup from the litter. They are quite the mix, with 54% herding dog including Australian Cattle Dog, German Shepherd, Miniature American Shepherd, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Border Collie and Cane Di Oropa (1% we didnt know what that was either!) The rest is Staffordshire Terrier, Rottweiler, Husky, Pit Bull, Japanese Chin, American Eskimo and Golden Retriever. We call it hybrid vigor. There is no possibility of inbreeding here!! We think puppy will be mid-size when full grown but that is best guess and his adopter should be ready to love and cuddle pup if he is larger or smaller than predicted.

The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.

Puppy has been vet checked, is vaccinated, and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopters expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done by 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered by 6 months.

If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-334-6935 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
