Meet precious, sweet, loving Ruby (a new name given to her to start the journey of finding a new life). Ruby was freed from the end of her chained life in January during our big snowstorm, no food or water bowl in sight, starving to the point that she had eaten a bunch of rocks and straw trying to survive. Barely able to stand, her old and weak body showed every bone of her ribs, spine and hips. After being bathed to clean her from years of caked on dirt, she was offered food and water which of course she scarfed down. She was full of nasty intestinal parasites that cause GI ulcerations and bloody diarrhea, has an enlarged heart, worn down teeth and miraculously free of Lyme disease. Fast forward just THREE WEEKS, with daily meals and basic care, she is free of parasites and pain, has gained a full 10 lbs, increased muscle mass in her legs, spine and head. Ruby has learned how to use the stairs, still requiring a little guidance. She also learned how to use a dog door but most importantly, what it feels like to be loved and cared for. Ruby has been housed with school aged children, dogs ranging from 20-75lbs and cats, getting along great with everyone. She is now crated trained and improving with her potty training. She is ready to fill someone's home with her big sweet smile and mild temperament. You can find our application at

Adoption Fees:

PUPPIES (under 1 year) $250.00, Includes spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, age appropriate vaccines, heartworm/lyme test (if applicable), two rounds of dewormer, one round of flea medicine and microchip.

ADULT DOGS (over 1 year) $225.00, Includes spay or neuter, rabies vaccine, first set of routine yearly vaccines, heartworm/lyme test, two rounds of dewormer, one round of flea medication, and Microchip.

KITTENS AND CATS
$100.00, Includes spay or neuter, vaccine according to their age, two rounds of dewormer, one round of flea medication, felv/fiv test, and microchip.

Pet Helpers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit foster based volunteer rescue located in Fairmont, WV. We do adopt out of state to approved applicants, if you are willing to drive to WV to pick up your pet. We do not fly or use transport companies. Our adoption fee is $150.00 for mixed breed puppies and adult dogs, $225.00 for full blooded puppies and adult dogs and $50.00 for cats and kittens. Regardless if the animal is a mixed breed or full blooded they are spayed/neutered prior to adoption IF they are old enough. If they are too young at the time of adoption, then it is your financial responsibility to spay/neuter the pet by the age of 6 months and you must provide proof for our files that it has been done. All of our pets are checked by a vet, given the shots appropriate for their age and any other treatment deemed necessary by the vet. All of our pets are adopted as indoor pets and are not be outdoors tied to a box 24/7. The pet you are adopting has been living in a home with a foster family. You are expected to take possession of the pet you are applying for within a few days of application approval. This will enable us to accept another pet into that home. Because we are a rescue, and believe that spaying and neutering is crucial in stopping the reproduction of unwanted puppies/kittens and massive amounts of animals dying daily in shelters across the country, we expect any animal already in your home to be spayed/neutered. If for any reason you are unable to keep the pet you have adopted you are required to return them to Pet Helpers, Inc. They are not to be sold or given away.
