Ruby Jack Russell Terrier & Pug Mix Toronto, ON

Lovely Ruby is looking for her perfect forever home! At 7 years of age (turning 8 at the end of this year) and weighing in at 21 lbs., she is a gorgeous JRT/Pug ("Jug") mix.

She is a very friendly and smart girl who loves her people and adjusts very quickly to new environments. She had no problem fitting into her fosters' lifestyle quickly and adapting to their rhythm and pace.

Ruby has a lot of energy which belies her age, acting like a dog much younger than her years.

She is VERY food motivated and is always on the lookout for crumbs on the floors. She will eat her dinners very quickly, so a bowl that is designed to slow her down is best. She will become vocal with gentle whining when dinner time (5:30-6pm) approaches and she hasn't seen her dinner bowl.

As with most dogs, Ruby is a bit barky with new sounds or noises outside the home such as dogs walking by the house. Ruby likes to sleep by her people in her own bed (she is not allowed on her fosters' bed) and sleeps throughout the night.

She needs to go out for bathroom breaks three times daily, but is fully house trained and has had no 'accidents' while with her foster family.

Ruby would suit a home with a single person, couple, family (with older, responsible children), or young retirees that can walk her often. Currently she is walked 3 times a day and she is happy to have additional play activity time. She will have a slight pull when first out to walk but then settles into a nice pace and can walk for 45 minutes (and likely longer) without any problem.

Ruby is polite when she greets other dogs, having no issues with small dogs and on occasion will correct larger dogs that come in too quickly. However, no aggression has been shown. She is untested with cats.

A very intelligent girl, Ruby knows commands such as "Ruby - want to go for a walk?", "Ruby sit", "Ruby stay", "Ruby watch me" and "Ruby bedtime".

Ruby is being lovingly fostered in Collingwood, Ontario, and her adoption fee is $475 (dog aged 6 - 9 years). She is spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines.
