Rosie's Story

Rosie is a high-energy 6-month-old German Wirehaired Pointer / German Shorthaired Pointer mix who’s ready to trade kennel life for a home where she can truly thrive.

Her journey to us came with a promise. A trusted rescue partner reached out about a bird dog trainer who had taken Rosie in as a project, but with a full client list, she simply wasn’t getting the time or work she deserved. We were told she needed a place to land and we didn’t hesitate. If they got her out, we would find her the right home.

Now in foster care with someone experienced in hunting breeds and GSPs, Rosie is finally getting what every young dog needs. Structure, exercise, and guidance. Her days of sitting in a kennel are behind her. She’s enjoying daily runs, learning house manners, and building a solid foundation with entry-level commands.

Rosie has been introduced to quail prior to arriving in Iowa, and while she hasn’t been bird tested since due to all the recent changes and her young age, she shows strong potential to grow into her breed instincts. With the right training and continued exposure, she could absolutely develop into a capable hunting companion.

She’s also more than just her working ability. Rosie is incredibly social and has done well with other dogs and kids. She’s been doing great in her foster home and has not had any accidents indoors.

Rosie would thrive in an active home that understands her breed and is committed to giving her the physical and mental exercise she needs. Whether that’s hunting, running, or simply being your adventure partner, she’s ready to meet you there.

If you’re looking for a young dog with drive, intelligence, and tons of potential, Rosie just might be your perfect match.

If you’re interested in adopting, please fill out our application, and someone will be in touch with you shortly!
https://animalwelfarefriends.org/adopt/application/
