Root(Rooty)'s Story

Looking for all the love of a Rottweiler in a more compact package? Meet Root: our "pocket Rottie" with a big heart and an even bigger soft side.

Root may be smaller than your typical Rottweiler, but don't let his size fool you, he's got that same loyal, affectionate, big baby energy the breed is known for.

When Root first came to us, he was very scared and unsure of the world around him. Since then, he's made great progress and continues to come out of his shell more each day. He's the kind of dog that just needs a little patience and understanding to truly shine.

Root would do best in a home that will take things slow and allow him time to adjust at his own pace. Building trust with him is incredibly rewarding, and once he feels safe, his sweet personality really starts to show.

We always recommend bringing all household members (both human and canine) to meet him prior to adoption. However, adopters should be prepared for slow, structured introductions at home, as the shelter environment is very different from a living room.

Neutered
Ready to go home
Loyal, loving, and learning to be brave

If you're willing to give Root the time he needs, you'll gain a devoted companion who will be worth every bit of patience.

Before you click "Apply for Adoption," understand that it only serves only as an adoption inquiry and pre-screening form and does not guarantee a response, approval, or adoption. A meet-and-greet with the animal is required to proceed with adoption. All adoptions are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. We are unable to hold or reserve animals for any reason. If an animal is listed on our website, it is currently available; however, availability may change at any time. Notifying us of your intent to visit, scheduling a visit, or submitting this inquiry form does not reserve or place a hold on an animal. Animals may be adopted by another party prior to your arrival.

Please stop by for a meet-and-greet to make sure the dog is a good fit for you. We always encourage you to bring along any fur family members that you may have some concerns about to the meet-and-greet, so nobody is surprised that there is an unwelcome guest in their home!

You DO NOT have to schedule an appointment for a meet-and-greet.
