Ronaldo's Story

Ronaldo
Male
Breed; Great Dane Mix
DOB: 2/9/26
Weight: 36 lbs.

Meet Ronaldo! He was found as a stray with three other puppies (we assume siblings) in West Virginia. He and his brother Messi were the most timid of the bunch and did not adjust to living in the shelter. Luckily they were soon transported to Buffalo where they moved in to a home with a couple much more confident dogs. Ronaldo is a bit more confident than his brother Messi. We are spending time with each puppy individually to build up confidence. Ronaldo approaches the other dogs and people for affection. He explores independently.
At first Ronaldo, was very apprehensive about crossing thresholds (doorways). With time and treats, Ronaldo is coming inside and going outside. After only a few days he is following his foster people around, crossing thresholds, and going into his crate (with some bribing). He does fine in his crate, I suspect he finds comfort knowing his brother is in the crate next to him.
He's very gentle, especially in the way he asks for people attention.
After about a week in his foster home, Ronaldo is following his people around the home and yard, nudging for pets, and picking up anything that isn't bolted down. If given a toy, he will prance around endlessly, showing off his prize.
In a calm home, he will come out of his shell quickly. Ronaldo has spent time with little kids. At first he was apprehensive but he will come around if the tiny humans aren't chasing him. After about a week he is much more willing to approach and receive attention. Since the weather has been so nice, the puppies have spent a lot of time outside. The very first day in Buffalo they both had accidents in their crates, but none since then, and no accidents in the house. This isn't to say they're perfectly house broken, but they certainly seem used to going potty outside.

If you think Ronaldo would be a good fit for your home you can apply to adopt on our website awesomepawsrescue.org
If you have been preapproved already, just send us a message on Facebook to set up a meet and greet!
