Romeo's Story

Meet Romeo! Romeo is an 8 year old mixed breed (he has qualities of a possible Jack Russel/Corgi/Heeler type mix). We cannot know for sure without a DNA test, but he's 26 lbs of adorable!

Romeo was brought to WI through another rescue organization approximately 5 years ago, and was unfortunately not in the best foster situation. He was a bit 'lost in the mix' for several years, had neglected medical care, and was then displaced once again when his foster was no longer providing care to him. Understandably, Romeo came to us quite confused - where do I belong? Who am I supposed to trust? Do I have a home? Well, he doesn't have to ask those questions any more, because we've promised him the best forever home possible.

This sweet lil guy came to us with horribly neglected dental disease and had no medical care for quite some time, so we made sure he was seen by our vet and treated for all of his known ailments. He does seem to have some vision loss in his left eye, but he gets around just fine. As we said, he was a little bit unsure when he first arrived, and just seemed cautious towards whom he could trust. Once he knows he safe, he's actually quite a spunky & funny little fella! You can tell he's craving a calm, loving human to give him scritchies and tell him what a good boy he is.

Romeo appears to ride well in vehicles, and he appears potty trained as he does not potty in his kennel at the shelter, but waits to go outside. We're to understand that he was in foster care with kids & other dogs, and should do fine in almost any calm, understanding setting. (We don't think he'd love a chaotic household).

If you have a loving home for a dog who's been through quite a bit of trauma in his lifetime, and you don't mind the idea of giving a 'retired' doggo a place to call home, Romeo would love to meet you. He's a very sweet and loyal little fella! We are doing all meet n' greets BY APPOINTMENT ONLY after an adoption application has been generally approved:
https://monroecountydogshelter.com/apply-adopt.html

Romeo is neutered & now fully vetted. HIs adoption fee is $240
