Romeo's Story

Meet this handsome boy, Romeo! Romeo is a 1-year-old male American Pit Bull-Terrier available for adoption. He is a curious, playful, and people-oriented pup that loves going on car rides! His other favorite activities are playing with his toys and fetch. Romeo is the textbook definition of a good dog! He has also been known to do well with cats and kids in previous interactions. If Romeo sounds like a good fit for you, come play fetch with him at CCHS! <br/><br/>Romeo is a STAFF FAVORITE PET! Here's what Animal Care Team Leader AJ, has to say about him:<br/><br/>"Romeo quickly became one of my favorite animals at the shelter within just a few short days of getting here. He has always been such a friendly and excited dog made even more evident by the background of his stubby tail. When he still had it, Romeo would spend all day just wagging away happy as a clam, but this meant it was always hitting against something and resulted in injuries to his tail frequently enough to warrant the docking procedure. Despite this, he never let it stop him and he has continued to wag his little nub with as much enthusiasm as he did the day he got here. He's still a fairly young dog and isn't particularly little, but with his size and personality he has brought me nothing but big smiles and bigger laughs. I feel that Romeo would be excellent for someone looking for a dog that is as sweet as he is silly. I think with just a little more space and whole lot of love, Romeo would make the perfect addition to the home of anyone who's always down for a good time and a little snack. If Romeo sounds like the right fit for you, I couldn't recommend having a visit with enough!"

Champaign County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
The first step toward adoption is coming to the shelter to meet the animals. Once you have decided on an animal you would like to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption application followed by a brief interview with one of our adoption counselors. If you prefer to fill out an Adoption Application online ahead of time, please visit the CCHS website. While submitting an application online will save some time during your visit to the shelter, submitting an application online does not place a "hold" on an animal, nor is it a guarantee of adoption. It generally takes 24-72 hours for the adoption staff to complete processing applications, so we do not send animals home the same day. MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS: CCHS accepts up to three applications per pet and priority for adoption is given to the first family to submit an application. If interested in a specific animal, we recommend calling the shelter prior to your visit for more information on their status. Please bring a valid photo ID with you for your visit to the shelter. You must be at least 18 years of age to adopt from CCHS. Hours for Adoptions: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM Saturday and Sunday: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM The shelter is closed on Tuesdays and major holidays.
