Our Mission
CCHS has been privileged to serve Champaign County, Illinois for over a century. Â As the only open-admission animal shelter and adoption center in Champaign County, we accept all owner-relinquished companion animals in need, regardless of age, medical condition. or suitability for adoption.
Adoption Policy
The first step toward adoption is coming to the shelter to meet the animals. Once you have decided on an animal you would like to adopt, you will be asked to fill out an adoption application followed by a brief interview with one of our adoption counselors.

MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS: We take more than one application per animal. We go with the first approved application, not necessarily the first received application, and reserve the right to choose the most appropriate home for an animal in the event of multiple applications. If interested in an animal who has a pending application, please call the shelter for more information.
Hours for Adoptions
Mon, Wed, Thurs, and Fri: 2 pm to 7 pm
Sat and Sun: 11 am to 5 pm
The shelter is closed on Tuesdays and major holidays.
