Romeo 's Story

Romeo came from a hoarding case in Bandera Texas at the age of one. Before he came to us he had no training, and no structure in his life. Since we took him in he has been in boarding at Pup Pup and Away and gets training 3x a week from their trainers. Romeo is deaf but knows hand signals and is constantly making progress showing all he knows! Romeo is currently on fluoxetine daily to help with his anxiety and anxious behavior. He is doing great on his meds, and thrives with a structure and consistent training. Romeo loves water and loves to play with his toys. His ideal family would be one who has an active lifestyle but understands that Romeo needs to stay on a schedule and routine. He really thrives when he gets mental stimulation and needs someone who can continue his training either with Pup Pup and Away or at home on their own. He is a phenomenal boy who loves butt scratches, treats, and attention!
Romeo needs to be the only animal in the home, and without children. Due to him being deaf he gets startled easily by other animals, and children.

Even though we are located in Texas we are able to transport to other States! We continued to work on his recall, this time with his collar on, and he responded perfectly every time, as the videos clearly show. His leash manners have truly blossomed; he hardly ever pulls or gets distracted, walking better than most of the pups here! We are so proud of how far he's come. Romeo also excelled with his "leave-its" for both leashes and toys, and he absolutely loves playing fetch. He's doing a fantastic job dropping the toy and letting us pick it up to throw again, which is a huge improvement from before when he might accidentally grab our hands. Great job, buddy, we're so proud of you and all your hard work! Keep up the fantastic progress! 🐾

- Maria R

Rosco's Rescue's Adoption Policy
We have weekly adoption events where potential adopters can meet our dogs. Once someone sees a dog they like they fill out the adoption application. After filling out the form we then do a meet and greet if they already have other dogs. If that goes smoothly, we proceed to the overnight visit at their home. If the overnight goes well and the application is approved, we proceed with the adoption and have the contract signed. When they do a two week follow up to make sure everyone is still happy with the decision. From then on we periodically check in to get updates on our dogs.
