Roman - Super Mellow's Story
UPDATED BIO: Roman came to us extremely obese and he is on a diet. He has lost bout 10 lbs or 4 kg in two months. As he loses weight, his interest in romping and exploring has increased. He seems much happier!

He is wonderful with all dogs, large, small -- friendly dogs and grumpy ones, and he is excellent with people too. We don't know about cats, but his personality is relaxed overall so we think he might be tolerant.

He likes to run and play with other dogs, but as a 9 year old, he likes his nap time too. He will tell other dogs when he is done playing, with a bark. He LOVES couches and dog beds! He snuggles with other dogs. He lived in a home with 35 dogs of all sizes and temperaments, so he coexists very well with dogs.

Roman is healthy because his medical issues are stable. His bloodwork and chem panel results were all normal as of 3 July, 2026. Roman was treated for heartworms in 2022; his heart was damaged so he is on inexpensive meds for that. He also has a thyroid problem, so he has meds for that, which are also inexpensive. He has some arthritis we think, but is not on a medication. He doesn't show any stiffness. Weight loss is the best medicine. A healthy weight for Roman could be 29 kg or 65 lbs.

Roman is fostered in Kentucky and we can transport him to you. In August, we transported a big Kentucky coonhound all the way to Nova Scotia! We will do everything we can to help Roman find a loving family.

https://www.coonhoundrescue.ca/foster-application
https://www.coonhoundrescue.ca/adoption-application
