ROLLIE - COURTESY LISTING 's Story

Meet Rollie! He is a stunning 10-month-old boy with the looks, personality and behaviors of an Australian Shepherd. His dad, Jimmy, was told he was a purebred but hasn't verified it with a DNA test. Rollie's original owners were giving Rollie and his siblings away at a Tractor Supply store. Drawn to Rollie for his cuteness and concerned about his future, Jimmy headed home with him.

Between farm work and teaching however, Dad has realized he simply can’t give this smart, energetic boy the time and attention he deserves — so he is selflessly searching for a home that can.

Life on dad's farm has been pretty great for Rollie. He loves being active, exploring, and keeping busy. He’s playful, intelligent, and very true to the Aussie breed. In fact, he takes his self-appointed job of “chicken supervisor” very seriously… although the chickens might describe it more as “being chased.”

Interestingly, when Dad is home Rollie becomes his devoted sidekick - totally tuned in to his person which is so Aussie like. But, because of his enthusiasm for poultry patrol, Rollie wouldn’t be the best fit for a home with free-roaming birds. Same with cats. His herding instincts tell him to " round 'm up! Other than that, he’s done well with cattle, and is friendly with dogs and kids. So, he could very well have a future as a farm hand.

Rollie has a moderate working dog personality so his dad will be looking for someone who understands working breeds — a person or family who can give him structure, activity, and mental stimulation. In return, you’ll get a loyal shadow, a smart partner, and a dog who will be completely devoted to his people.

Rollie is ready to trade his farm chores for a forever home. If you’ve got the time, energy, and a chicken and cat -free yard, Rollie just might be your perfect match!

He’s neutered, vaccinated, healthy, and ready to bring his big personality to the right family.

You can apply to adopt below. His application will be forwarded to his owner, Jimmy. Rollie and Jimmy are located in Marion, VA.

www.arcbcr.org/cl-adoption-application

ARCBCR courtesy lists dogs for individual owners, other rescues, and shelters wishing to place their Border Collies or Border Collie-mixes themselves.

These dogs are NOT in the ARCBCR program.
