He walks beautifully on a leash and is happiest simply being near his people. Whether you're relaxing at home or enjoying a quiet afternoon together, Rocky is content just sharing your company.<br/><br/>Treats are one of the quickest ways to Rocky's heart. He's very food motivated, making him easy to engage with and eager to learn while continuing to build trust with his family.<br/><br/>Rocky is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease and is looking for a family willing to support him through the remainder of his recovery. He will need to return to NMDR for scheduled treatments, monitoring, and a dental procedure. During this time, he must remain on restricted activity and follow his treatment plan carefully to give him the best chance at a full recovery.<br/><br/>Rocky has done well with other dogs during introductions and interactions at the shelter. However, he has shown that he enjoys having his people to himself during close, one-on-one time and may guard a lap or favorite person from another dog. For this reason, any potential canine housemates should be a thoughtful match, with slow introductions and appropriate management to help everyone succeed.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal companion who will happily trade adventures for quiet moments by your side, Rocky may be the perfect addition to your family.
