Rocky Comics's Story
11-year-old Rocky has been through a lot-and he's come out the other side stronger than ever. He was first surrendered to Long Beach Animal Shelter by his family. Then at FFF, underwent a cystotomy to remove a giant bladder stone, and just a week later needed emergency surgery to untwist and tack his stomach after bloat. He's fully house-trained and has never had an accident in the home. Rocky weighs 41 lbs.

Rocky is playful, athletic, and full of life. He loves fetch and can hike 3-5 miles without slowing down. When home alone, he's perfectly content to snooze on the bed. He can be independent-sunbathing in the yard or resting in another room-but he also has a soft, needy side. He surprised us by becoming a lap dog, happily resting his head in our laps and sleeping with us at night.

After everything Rocky has been through medically, we saw a shift in him. It's almost as if those scary experiences left him a little guarded-more sensitive about touch and quicker to become defensive if he feels uncomfortable. Because of this, Rocky needs an adult-only home with someone who understands canine body language and will respect his space while trust is building.

The best way to think of Rocky is as a roommate at first. Give him patience, clear boundaries, and mutual respect, and he will meet you there. And once you've earned his trust? His affection is incredibly special-soft head rests in your lap, quiet companionship, and the sweetest moments that feel truly deserved.
He's great with other dogs, even around toys or furniture, and has shown calm curiosity toward cats through a barrier. He knows his name, responds to "Sit" and "Shake," and will happily play fetch anytime you're willing.

Rocky may be misunderstood at first glance, but with patience and understanding, he's a loyal, balanced companion whose trust is truly rewarding.

Please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org to learn more about this very deserving boy!
