Rocky's Story

Rocky was adopted in 2024 and returned due to no fault of his own. Rocky is a handsome dog with cute, fluffy ears and a happy-go-lucky personality that makes him a joy to be around.
He is good with dogs, cats, kids, and strangers, and has done well playing with other dogs in foster homes, though a proper introduction is always recommended. He does need to be left alone while eating, so a home without very young children or one that can manage feeding time appropriately would be best. He does well with cats, although if they run outdoors, he may chase them. He will chase cows, so a home without livestock will be important for him.
Rocky is housebroken. He walks pretty well on a leash but may pull when excited. He rides well in the car and does well being groomed. Rocky has an extreme dislike of crates and does not do well being confined or left alone inside, so he will need a home that can accommodate his comfort and help him feel secure.
He is a fun, active boy who loves toys, running around, and soaking up attention. He also enjoys cuddling on the couch or bed and being close to his people. Rocky would benefit from continued training, as he does not yet know basic commands, but he is eager and ready to learn.
Rocky is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He is heartworm negative and on prevention.

Erath County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
When someone comes in wanting to adopt, we first ask what they are looking for in a new pet. If they can describe what they are looking for, we will make some suggestions based on that criteria, and then let them go through the shelter looking at the adoptable animals. There are kennel cards on each kennel with information specific to that animal. Once they find an animal they are interested in we do a meet and greet with the person interested in adopting. If they have other pets, we recommend a meet and greet with current pets as well. Whatever animal the potential adopter chooses, we highly suggest a 5 day foster period to make sure the animal and the adopter are a good fit.
