ROBIN's Story

Robin is a 20lb, five year old Mini Aussie ready for her soft landing spot and new favorite person. She’s excitable in the cutest way, wagging her little nub when she sees her person and giving the cutest grins. She forms a deep bond with her chosen person, following them and checking in often. She loves exploring the outdoors, hiking through the woods, and running around her property with reckless abandon. She walks beautifully on leash in nature and thrives with space, routine, and gentle consistency.

At home, Robin is a playful, toy-loving girl. She adores her foster dog brother and would enjoy living with another friendly, playful dog after a thoughtful introduction. She loves chasing the ball but sometimes forgets to bring it back! And she entertains herself with stuffed squeaky toys, which she proudly collects in her crate like it’s her dragon’s hoard. She’s happy to share them with you, though. She’s housebroken, crate trained, she sleeps through the night and often chooses her crate as her cozy retreat. She has shown no separation anxiety in her foster home.

Because Robin is such a sensitive soul, she takes the world in carefully. New transitions can feel overwhelming for her, and she may hesitate to come out of her crate, walk past people in doorways, or approach when there’s quick movement. Her way of communicating is gentle and sweet — she’ll back up or retreat to her crate, offer a little submissive smile, wiggle her butt and wait until things feel safe again. She rides well in the car once settled, but she will need to be placed in the car. When life is overwhelming, she chooses to back away and needs encouragement and patience and slow transitions to new activities and challenges.

She’s looking for a special adopter who understands nervous dogs and has the patience to continue to help Robin understand the world is not scary. With patience, structure, and a calm environment, Robin will absolutely blossom. In her routine in her foster home, she is very much a happy household member, spending her days sleeping, playing and going on small adventures.

If you’re a quiet household with room to roam, a love for the outdoors, and a soft spot for a gentle, quirky, toy-hoarding Mini Aussie, Robin might be your perfect girl. Robin is being fostered by Atlantic Region Central Border Collie Rescue in Reston, Virginia. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. She is on a monthly, easy to administer pill for heartworm treatment. She is asymptomatic and doing well. Her adopter will be provided with the needed remainder of her medication. You can reach out to sillyluc@gmail.com for more information about this little girl and submit an application at www.arcbcr.org/adoption-application

She will be available after June 20th when she has recovered from her spay.
