Riley's Story
BASIC FACTS

Breed: Dachshund/Cavalier Mix
Color: Brown and white
Age: 4 years old
Gender: Male, neutered
Size: 18 pounds
House-trained: Yes
Crate trained: Unknown
Good with Kids: Older kids only
Good with Dogs: Yes, under the right conditions
Good with Cats: No
Concerns: leash reactivity, excessive barking

BIOGRAPHY

Meet Riley!

Riley is a cuddle bug who just wants to be with his person. But that person needs to be patient and willing to help him reach his full potential. Riley was surrendered with about a dozen other dogs living in the same home and now he needs to learn socialization skills.

Riley will be your little shadow and will climb into your lap the moment you sit down. However, he can be a bit mischievous and will run off with your shoes or slippers. He is also a jumper and has made his way up on his foster’s dining room table!

Riley would not do well in an apartment as he enjoys barking when anyone dares to walk in front of the house. He also needs a secure fence. The main area of concern for Riley is his leash reactivity. When out for a walk, he will excessively bark at people, other dogs, and cats out of fear and/or excitement. It would be ideal if his adopter were to engage with a professional trainer for Riely as well.

Riley could be an only dog, though he would prefer someone home more often than not. He could also live with another small dog, with the understanding that an outdoor leash meeting may not be possible until Riley receives training.

Riley is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. He is being fostered in Grove City, OH and is available for an adoption fee of $400.00.

If you are interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.sophiasgracefoundation.org

***Petfinder/RescueMe inquiries are NOT considered applications and may
not be responded to***
