Meet Rigatoni aka “Toni” ?<br/><br/>7 months • 12 lbs • Yorkie/Terrier Mix • Neutered Male<br/><br/>If you’re looking for the perfect mix of spunky, snuggly, and sweet, say hello to Rigatoni—aka Toni! This little guy is as friendly as they come. His foster calls him “Mayor Toni” and “Mr. Congeniality” because he’s never met a stranger—whether human, dog, or even cat.<br/><br/>Personality & Energy<br/><br/>Toni is a versatile pup who can match just about any vibe. Most of the day he’s quiet and chill, happy to nap nearby or curl up for cuddles. When it’s time for a walk (he goes 3–4 a day) or a good play session, he shifts into medium gear, trotting happily alongside his foster family. And then, like any puppy, he sometimes kicks it into high gear—zoomies, toy shaking, and ball chasing included! Don’t worry, his bursts of silly, playful energy usually last only 15–20 minutes a couple of times a day.<br/><br/>With People & Kids<br/><br/>This boy is a social butterfly. He’s curious, affectionate, and loves meeting new people of all ages. He’s already met several young kids (from toddlers to elementary school age) and was gentle, friendly, and eager to play. Toni loves being part of the action, whether it’s neighborhood walks or simply lounging near his humans while they work or relax.<br/><br/>With Dogs & Cats<br/><br/>Toni is very dog-friendly and loves having buddies. He plays enthusiastically, sometimes barking to entice his foster siblings into a game. He’s respectful of dogs who don’t want to play and learns quickly when corrected. He’s also lived with a cat in his first foster home and showed little interest—he’d be fine with feline roommates.<br/><br/>Training & Home Life<br/><br/>House training: About 80% there—he’s learning quickly with frequent potty breaks and consistency.<br/><br/>Crate training: Sleeps in a crate at night and settles after a few minutes of protest. He also does well in a larger bathroom space when his foster is away.<br/><br/>Leash manners: A great little walker! He may stop for some extra sniffing or occasionally “pancake” if startled, but he’s improving every day.<br/><br/>Car rides: Calm and easy—he just lays quietly in the back seat.<br/><br/>Ideal Home<br/><br/>Toni would love a home where his people are around most of the day—he’s a Velcro pup who thrives on companionship. A fenced yard would be great for play and potty training, though not required if he gets regular walks. He could be happy as a solo pup or with another playful dog to romp with.<br/><br/>Special Notes<br/><br/>Toni is currently recovering well from recent eye surgery (he had a severely ruptured eye when he was in the shelter and it had to be removed). His one-eyed look just adds to his charm—kids may ask questions, but Toni isn’t phased one bit. He’s smart, affectionate, and eager to please. With continued training, he’s going to be an exceptional lifelong companion.<br/><br/>**Please note, all of our dogs are fostered in Houston, where our rescue is based.
