Hi, I'm Rhett!<br/><br/>I'm a handsome guy with a fun, independent personality! I can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but give me a couple minutes and I'll warm up and show you my playful side. I love getting pets and attention, but I'm also happy doing my own thing and hanging out nearby. I'm more of an independent guy when it comes to affection, so I prefer keeping my paws on the ground rather than being picked up or kissed on.<br/><br/>I'm playful and very interested in other dogs! I enjoy checking out new friends and seeing if they want to play. I haven't had any exposure to cats or kids yet. Since I can be a little unsure in new situations, kids 10+ would likely be the best fit for me.<br/><br/>I'm a pretty easygoing guy with moderate energy. I love heading outside to explore and investigate everything around me, and mealtime is definitely another favorite! I'm making great progress with potty training and am ready to keep learning. I'll need some help with basic obedience and leash walking, but I'm a smart guy and ready to learn.<br/><br/>I can be a little talkative when something exciting catches my attention, like people coming to the door, something happening outside, or other dogs barking. I'm also a strong chewer, so I'll need fun, durable toys and supervision during playtime.<br/><br/>One of my funniest quirks is standing on my back legs and batting at you with my front paws! (I like attention, what can I say).<br/><br/>I may take a little time to warm up and build trust, but once I do, you'll discover a playful, confident, easygoing guy who knows how to keep himself entertained. I'm looking for a family who will give me a little patience as I settle in, help me continue learning, and let my independent personality shine!<br/>---<br/>Rhett is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven't arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start's Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start's veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
