Rex's Story

Meet Rex, the sweetest, “perfectly imperfect” pup you’ll ever meet!

Rex is a 1 year old, 15 lb Lhasa Apso mix with a heart as big as his personality. Born with a cleft lip, missing one eye, and a congenital heart defect (now successfully repaired), Rex has overcome more in his first year than most dogs do in a lifetime. And through it all, he has remained a happy and incredibly loving little soul.

Rex is friendly and affectionate, but he can be a bit sensitive and shy in new or unfamiliar situations. Once he feels safe, his playful, goofy side shines through. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and would enjoy a canine companion, but he’d also be perfectly content as an only dog as long as he gets plenty of quality time and reassurance from his person. Rex is crate trained and well on his way to being housetrained, but he’ll need a consistent routine and attentive supervision to help him continue building on his progress.

Because of his sensitive nature, Rex would do best in a calm home with adults or older children who can give him the patience, understanding, and steady routine he needs to feel secure.

If you’re looking for a loyal, tenderhearted companion who will reward your love tenfold, Rex might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to start the next chapter of his life with someone who sees his uniqueness as something to celebrate.

Rex is neutered and current on vaccinations. He has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped.

If you’re interested in adopting Rex, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt).
