Rex's Story
If you've ever wanted a Rottweiler but thought, "What if he was slightly more compact and somehow even more huggable?" then allow us to introduce Rex.

Rex is a 63 pound Rottweiler mix with the look of a mini Rottie and the personality of everyone's favorite dog at the function. Seriously, our volunteers fell for him almost immediately. He's sweet, affectionate, playful, and has that perfect mix of "let's go do something fun" and "please stop petting me never."

He's estimated to be around a year and a half old, so while he's out of the tiny puppy phase, he's still a young guy with lots of playful energy and enthusiasm for life. Volunteers say he walks wonderfully on a leash, and he keeps his kennel spotless, which makes us think he's likely already housetrained too. A gentleman AND handsome? Dangerous combination.

Rex is not a fan of cats, but he has done well with other dogs when given proper introductions. Before coming to us, he spent time in a foster home with four other dogs and did great with them. He is a little timid of men at first, but has never shown an ounce of aggression toward them or anyone. He just cowers for a second. About half of our volunteer base is men and he has made fast friends with all of them.

He's the kind of dog that turns heads everywhere he goes, happily trotting along like he knows he's everyone's favorite.

If you're looking for a loyal, lovable companion with a big heart packed into a sturdy little Rottie package, Rex may be your perfect match.

Apply to adopt at EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org

His adoption fee is $200 and this includes his neuter, vaccines, flea/tick/ heartworm prevention, a negative heartworm test, and a microchip.
