Rex's Story

Hey there, I’m Rex!

I’m 11 lbs and 8 years old, but don’t let that number fool you… I’ve got plenty of spunk left in me! I used to live with a sweet lady who I loved very much. When she passed away, my whole world turned upside down, and now I’m looking for a new person to call my own.

I’m house trained (because I’m a gentleman), walk nicely on a leash, and I love going for walks. Seriously, if you grab the leash, I’m ready. I’ve been social with other dogs, even went to doggy daycare, and I’ve lived with a cat before, too. I know how to share my space like a pro.

Now let’s talk about my favorite things: treats and laps. I am VERY food motivated (snacks = happiness), and I am a total lap dog. If you sit down, I will politely assume that’s my invitation to climb up and soak up all the cuddles. Personal space? Never heard of it.

I used to be posted as a bonded pair with my companion, Duke, but after reassessment from sanctuary staff, we can be adopted separately. Sometimes Duke wants to play a little too much for my liking.

I’ve got an energetic, happy personality, and I love being part of whatever you’re doing. But I do prefer a calm, predictable home. Quick movements and lots of chaos make me nervous, so I’d do best in a home without children. I just like knowing what to expect and knowing I’ve got a cozy lap waiting for me.

I am up-to-date on vaccines, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

The cost to adopt is $250 and the adoption process begins with an Adoption Application that is located at: www.faithfulfriendsnc.org/adopt

Once your completed application has been reviewed the humans will contact you with questions and/or set an appointment for you to meet me. Thank you! Please read all guidelines before sending in an application. Do not reach out to the sanctuary about the status of your application, we will contact you if we are interested in setting up an appointment.

Please read before applying. We place our animals—many from neglectful or abusive backgrounds—only in safe, responsible homes. Basic requirements include up-to-date vet care for current/past pets (Rabies, Distemper, annual exams, heartworm prevention for dogs), safe housing, and a vet reference check from all clinics used in the last 10 years. Renters must provide landlord approval. First-time adopters ages 21–25 may need additional info. You must apply for a specific animal and complete the application fully. Approved applicants will be contacted to schedule a meet & greet; we cannot provide status updates due to high volume.
