Red's Story
Name: Red
Age: 2 years
Weight: 45lbs
Breed: Catahoula Leopard / Heeler Mix
Sex: Female

Meet Red!

Red is a spirited, affectionate, and joyful young girl who was surrendered alongside her mom, Piper. From the start, she has shown a loving, people-oriented personality and a strong desire to bond and please.

She thrives on attention, affection, toys, and food motivation. Red is playful, curious, and happiest when shes outside exploring, running, and engaging with her environment. Her confidence continues to grow every day as she learns that the world is a safe and fun place.

Personality & Training Notes:

Red is intelligent, eager to please, and highly responsive to redirection and structure. She is currently building confidence and working through some sensitivities consistent with possible past trauma she can be sensitive to stern tones or chaotic/panic situations and may respond by cowering when overwhelmed. She is doing very well with guidance, consistency, and positive handling.

Behavior & Socialization:

Dogs: Doing well with resident dogs through parallel walks; continued slow introductions recommended, she wants to play just unsure the approach!

Cats: In early exposure training initial barking when first seeing cats but easily redirected with correction

Friendly and affectionate with both men and women, though she may be a little shy when first meeting new people. Older children are recommended, as busy or loud environments can still be overwhelming for her while she continues to build confidence.

Training: Knows basic commands and is eager to learn more. House trained, crate trained.

Home Life & Needs:

Red would thrive in an active, loving home that can offer structure, patience, and plenty of time for play and bonding. She does best with calm, consistent guidance and will continue to blossom with positive reinforcement and routine.

She would enjoy a home that can balance affection with activity she loves being included in daily life, outdoor adventures, and playtime.

Why You'll Love Red:

Red is a true ray of sunshine playful, affectionate, gentle, and deeply loyal. Shes the kind of dog who bonds strongly with her people and lights up every room she enters. She may not be the dog to immediately seek you out, but if you give her the time and space to trust, she will choose you and once she does, she will never want to leave your side.

Bonus personality quirk? She will carefully remove every single toy from her toy box... just so she can sit in it. Because in Reds world, the box is the real prize.

She is ready to continue her journey in a forever home that will love her as much as she loves them. You just need to be able to give her the time to find comfort.

Fostered in Kitchener, ON
