RASCAL's Story

This 5-year-old Australian Shepherd mix (about 30 lbs) has been through more than most. When he arrived, he was in tremendous pain from polyarthritis and couldn't walk. He was also living with the effects of untreated hypothyroidism.

Today, he's made incredible progress-taking short 4-5 minute walks and showing us his resilient, determined spirit every day. He will, however, likely need treatment for both conditions and be on a diet for the rest of his life.

Rascal needed a shave and now rocks his adorable "lion cut." While his coat may not fully grow back, his personality more than makes up for it. He's sweet, affectionate, and will happily let you know when he's ready for attention.

He'll need a dedicated adopter who can help lift and carry him (30 lbs) regularly when needed and continue supporting his mobility journey. He is not house trained overnight although keeps a clean space during the day if taken out to putty every few hours

Rascal is looking for a compassionate home that sees his challenges-but falls in love with his heart.
