Raon's Story

ADOPTION INFORMATION
SUBMIT A COMPLETE APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED: https://forms.gle/UmpfbgmydH7igSdN7
A PetFinder inquiry alone does not count as an application.
Raon is currently in rescue care in South Korea and will fly to the United States with a flight volunteer once matched with a suitable family. Approved adopters receive a two-week trial and monitoring period with rescue support.
ADOPTION FEE: 650 dollars
Includes neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, pre-departure veterinary exam and care, official health certificate, and transportation to the United States.
More Photos and Videos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/iriTWnRrz3p9UaUk9
Website: https://neveraloneanimalrescue.org/

MEET RAON
Raon is an affectionate, outgoing young dog who loves people, play, and learning new things. His best match is an active family that offers individual attention, gentle guidance, and scheduled downtime.
He can live as an only dog, with compatible dogs, or with children. Another dog is welcome but not required.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
Dog Companions: Needs dogs who let him walk away when uncomfortable, rather than following, cornering, or bullying him. Past bullying affected his confidence, but he became sociable and comfortable again in a more stable environment.
Chewing Safety: Can tear up and swallow fabric, including large pieces. Keep clothing and soft toys out of reach. His caregivers use supervised rubber toys and recommend his familiar crate for appropriate periods when unsupervised.
Mobility: Occasionally limps on his right leg after excessive play, despite reportedly normal joint X-rays. Balance activity with rest and share this history with his adopter's veterinarian.

AT A GLANCE
Age: 1 year, 8 months
Sex: Neutered male
Weight: Approximately 41.4 pounds
Body Condition: Slightly lean
Energy Level: High

PEOPLE AND OTHER ANIMALS
People: Readily approaches unfamiliar men and women, welcomes visitors, and enjoys petting. Rough handling or overly intense interactions can overwhelm him.
Children: Friendly, although especially drawn to adults. Sometimes playfully mouths fingers and needs continued redirection and supervised interactions.
Dogs: Gets along well with friendly dogs of different sizes. Invites smaller dogs to play and backs away when they ask for space.
Cats: Usually shows little interest, but has joined another dog in chasing a cat. Compatibility in a shared home is unknown.

EXERCISE AND TRAINING
Current Routine: Three daily outings, approximately 30 minutes in the morning, 1 to 2 hours in the afternoon, and 1 hour in the evening.
Rest: May keep playing rather than settle on his own. Scheduled naps and quiet time are essential.
Favorite Activities: Reward-based training, learning new skills, scent games, exploring, and interactive play.
Leash Manners: Generally walks well. Occasionally pulls toward interesting smells but responds to gentle guidance. Has continued walking calmly past dogs that bark or growl at him.
New Objects: May pause to observe. Give him time to look, then reward him for checking back with his handler.
Recall: Responds very well to his caregiver, including during play. Continue practicing in securely enclosed areas as he bonds with his new family.

HOME LIFE
Current Setting: A training center with resident and visiting dogs, not a private foster home. He will need time to learn a household routine.
House Training: Goes to the bathroom outdoors only. Maintain consistent potty breaks during his transition.
Crate Training: Enters willingly or on cue and uses his crate for sleep and rest.
Barking: Generally quiet. May whine or bark when another dog leaves for an outing without him, usually settling within 30 seconds to 3 minutes.

FOOD AND CHEWS
Appetite: Eats enthusiastically and enjoys a wide variety of treats.
Current Diet: Raw duck and Orijen fish-based food, as reported by his caregiver.
High-Value Chews: May quietly growl and move away if another dog repeatedly approaches while he has a large, long-lasting chew. Give these separately.
Resource Guarding: None reported toward people. Comfortable sharing water and having dogs pass nearby during regular meals.

CAR RIDES
Needs help getting into the car and exits on cue.
Sits quietly, including on longer rides, but developed anxiety and drooling after losing his balance during two sudden stops. His caregiver reports some improvement.
May vomit water if a ride begins immediately after drinking. Chews accessible leashes in the car, so safe restraint and careful supervision are important.

HEALTH AND GROOMING
Digestive History: Previously had frequent diarrhea. His caregiver reports using probiotics for occasional episodes.
Allergies: None reported.
Parasite Prevention: NexGard on the first of every month, year-round, including winter.
Baths: Initially avoids the spray but relaxes with slow, gentle handling.
Toothbrushing: Not yet tried.

RESCUE STORY
Raon's mother was rescued during the Andong wildfires in South Korea and later gave birth at a shelter. Raon was one of her puppies.
Now this affectionate, enthusiastic boy is waiting for a family to share his adventures, celebrate his progress, and give him a secure place to call home.
