Ranger's Story

Ranger was initially rescued by a Good Samaritan in 2024. He was found in the middle of a road just hours old with his umbilical cord still attached! A nursing mother was found for him & after he was old enough to eat gruel, Ranger came into rescue. Ranger was adopted as a puppy by his foster family but in December 2025, his family could no longer keep him so Ranger came back to us. Fun loving Ranger needs a forever home!

2 year old Ranger is a really sweet boy that loves to play. He enjoys the out of doors and will let you know what he sees and hears with his bark! Ranger likes his chill time too and will sleep in bed with you or in his crate. Ranger does well meeting new people, men and women alike and loves to play with other dogs- likes balls & playing fetch, especially with another dog playing too. And rather then shredding toys, he cobbs them like an ear of corn. Oh Ranger you silly boy! Ranger does well with car rides- he sits on his rear like a gentleman. He knows how to sit, shake and lay down. He does pull on a leash some but is getting better. And leave your counters clear or Ranger will swipe any yummies left behind!

We have not done Ranger's DNA, however we think he's an Anatolian Shepherd mix with maybe some Great Pyrenees. He had the Pyrenees fluffy white undercoat as a puppy. A great eater, Ranger has the lean Shepherd physique and weighs 60-65 lbs. Ranger is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm negative.
Ranger is being fostered in Little Rock, AR

Adoption Requirements
*A secure, visible fence
*A home visit
*Children in the home should be 12+
*A vet reference with at least a two year vet history

Adopters can be located in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, and Arkansas. We are able to help transport to those states.

Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri's Adoption Policy
Applicants must have a secure and visible fence and children in the home must be 12 or older. In order for your application to be approved, you must also pass a home check and a vet check which includes having at least a two year vet history. All of our dogs can be adopted in Missouri and surrounding states that we are currently able to transport to: Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Arkansas. Our adoption fees are: Dogs 1 year and older: $400 Puppies under 1 year: $450 All of our rescued Pyrenees are fully vetted prior to adoption, spayed/neutered (dogs 1 year and older), microchipped, up-to-date on immunizations, and up-to-date on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. The adoption process begins when you complete an online Adoption Application, naming either one or a few of our available dogs you are interested in adopting. Completing an application does not restrict you to a specific dog, nor does it obligate you to adopt. Once we have received your application and determined if you are a good match for the dog you are interested in, a representative from our adoption team will contact you to go over our process in its entirety. From there, we will put you in contact with the foster parent, so you may set up a meet and greet with the dog, in person when possible or video chat if that isn't an option. Before adopting, keep in mind that many of our dogs prior to being rescued and placed in foster homes have never lived inside a home. Some dogs may never have been walked on a leash, socialized, house-trained or spent time with other animals. Our fosters work with these dogs on many of these issues to prepare them for their furever homes, but these dogs will still need patience and understanding as they learn to adapt when they come to you. Rescued dogs need adopters who will not give up on them if they have accidents in the house, pull on the leash, dig in the yard, or act nervous or frightened. An adoption will be successful only if the adopter is committed to seeing the dog through the adjustment period. The rewards are the unconditional love and loyalty of a wonderful companion, and the satisfaction of knowing you have given a rescued dog a better life. If at any time after adoption, you decide you cannot keep the pet for any reason, the dog must be returned to Great Pyrenees Rescue of Missouri.
