Ralphie Rottweiler & Shepherd Mix Elkhart , IN

Ralphie came to us from IACS as a stray. He was listed as urgent because he was very fearful and under-socialized and not adoptable in his current state. We networked hard for this guy and his amazing foster family stepped up for him. He has been settling in and loving life. He’s now ready to find a home of his own!

Ralphie has come such a long way! He came to us very timid and fearful. Now, he is full of energy and very affectionate! Ralphie doesn’t know his own size or strength, so it would probably be best if he wasn’t in a home with small children under 5, in case he were to knock them over or climb on them. We have been working on potty training, and he has been doing well! But he will continue to need some ongoing work. Ralphie loooooves other pups! So he should definitely be in a home with other dogs. Just watch out - he loves to play and wrestle! He should also be in a home with a fenced yard, so he can run until his heart’s content and burn off all his energy! We have been crate training him when we leave the house, because he gets very anxious when his ‘people’ leave. If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate, playful dog - Ralphie is your guy!!!!

Ralphie is a family dog and still has some stranger danger. He is still working on proper introductions and learning that new people aren’t scary. Slow intros are best for him! Ralphie is enrolled in a dog class to help with this. If he is moved to trial before classes end, we will have his new family finish them out. Ralphie does struggle with separation anxiety but his foster home has been working with him on this and we will gladly pass along the tools to continue helping him see improvement.

Ralphie is neutered, microchipped, HW negative and on prevention. Fully vaccinated. He also comes with a GPS tracking collar because he is a flight risk while he adjusts in his new home.
