Radar's Story
When this handsome guy was returned to our care due to no fault of his own, we asked him what he was looking for in his forever home. After being pretty bored and left to play by himself most of the time, he knew exactly what he wanted!

Radar is a ball of happy, goofy energy! He is such a light hearted, easy going guy that thrives with physical and mental stimulation. He's got good looks and energy to burn. Radar would truly benefit with having another playful, runs like the wind doggy sibling to share his time with and have constant companionship. He is so social and that includes with humans of every age and kitty cats, too! He would also master just about any job or sport presented to him! To meet Radar is to become his new best friend!

At 56lbs, he occasionally forgets he's not actually a lap dog, but he comes by that honestly with the Dachshund in him . He's a guy who's always seeking affection and approval. He wants to please but wasn't always given the structure and appropriate tools to know the best ways to do that in his last home. At 2 years old, Radar is thriving in his foster home, which he happily shares with his another young dog and kitty. He has his basic obedience well figured out, is fully potty trained and is doing great with leash walking on a gentle leader. Radar would do best with a fenced yard, as his recall will need continued consistency...that Dachshund selective hearing tends to make an appearance or the squirrels steal his attention. However, he was previously trained to a an invisible fence/e-collar and did well with it. Radar is working hard on crate training. He is learning that it is a positive, safe place where he can mentally relax and is not just a spot to go when he's in trouble. He's learning quickly; this dude is smart!

Radar will do best with forever humans who want an adventure buddy and understand the needs of a higher energy, young dog. He would THRIVE as a hiking, running, biking, camping, he loves any activity companion! He could truly go any direction as a working or sporting dog! He would excel at hunting, scent work or Fast CAT. His drive is unmatched! No matter where he goes, everyone wants to meet Radar and he'd love to make some new friends out on the trail this Summer!

Radar's adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip, vaccines, heartworm/tick borne illness testing, dewormings and flea/tick/heartworm prevention! Reach out to us to meet this truly incredible guy!
