Radar's Story
Hound Lovers Dream! This guy has all the looks, drive and personality of a Bluetick...we know you don't believe the Dachshund part but we promise it's true. Just ask his 5 littermates who came out with tiny legs and his Dachshund mom who gave birth in our care. :-)

Radar is a ball of happy, goofy energy! He is such a light hearted guy that thrives with physical and mental stimulation. He's got Hound energy to burn and will need a home who understands the activity requirements of a breed whose dream is to catch every squirrel who dare enter your yard...or come close to it. We will require his new forever home have a fenced yard or property that would allow him to run to his heart's content (i.e. invisible fence).

At 50lbs, he occasionally forgets he's not actually a lap dog, but he comes by that honestly with the Dachshund in him. When he's had his fill of sniffing out any pesky intruders for the day, Radar is a cuddle bug and loves to curl up and be close to his humans. He wants to please but wasn't always given the structure and appropriate tools to know the best ways to do that in his last home. Radar has been through a 6 week professional board and train and continues to do weekly training with our trainer and with us. He is incredibly smart and has amazing foundational training for his forever home to easily continue and build on. He could truly go any direction as a working or sporting dog! He would excel at hunting, scent work or Fast CAT. His drive and focus are unmatched!

Radar is completely potty and crate trained. He lives with multiple other dogs of all shapes and sizes and honestly, he's rather indifferent to the resident pups in his foster home. He occasionally enjoys playing with other dogs but when he's outside, his Hound turns on and he's truly quite happy entertaining himself or working one on one with his human. While Radar has lived in multiple homes with cats and done okay, we feel he would be best suited for a feline free environment and we think most kitties hold the same sentiment. His innate instincts shouldn't be tested constantly and we want Radar to thrive in his next and LAST home!

Radar will do best with forever humans who want an adventure buddy and understand the needs of a high drive, young Hound dog. He will thrive in a home with structure, consistency, physical outlets and mental enrichment. And of course, a whole lot of LOVE! No matter where he goes, everyone wants to meet Radar! He's just that guy that catches everyone's eye and he's truly never met a stranger.

Radar's adoption fee includes his neuter, microchip, vaccines, heartworm/tick borne illness testing, and deworming. It also includes a 1 year injection of ProHeart (heartworm prevention) and a 1 year injection of Bravecto Quantum (flea/tick prevention). If he seems like the Hound you've been missing in your life, reach out to us with any questions or submit an adoption application to meet this truly incredible guy!
