Meet Quinn

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Quinn! This gal on wheels has stolen all of our hearts and is the sweetest little lady you’ll ever meet. We are unsure what caused her paralysis…she came from a place of neglect: living outside in the dirt, with no special care. But let us tell you - she is kind, brave, resilient, has great potential with kiddos and loves ALL humans. Quinn is a playful, bubbly, affectionate girl who loves to sunbathe and receive booty scratches.

Quinn arrived in our care due to neglect from her previous owner. After some much needed medical attention, Quinn was determined to have paralysis of her hind end with minimal motor function; origin unknown. Her hind end motor function has been improving greatly since under our care, she is able to stand on her own and take a few steps without assistance for short periods of time.

Quinn has a custom wheelchair which she uses with ease and is always excited to zoom around. We believe she has minimal control of her bladder, able to go outside to potty but will urinate with pressure on her abdomen. Quinn arrived with sores on her hind legs/paws but these have also improved.

NOTES FROM A VOLUTNEER - QUINN'S DOGGIE DAYS OUT!
"I’ve brought Quinn home a few times this week to give her a break from shelter life. She has been a spectacular house guest even though she snores! She’s considered special needs because she’s paralyzed from the waist down. I consider her special but not very needy. The extra care she requires is manageable. She’s calm, she’s quiet, she’s observant, and she’s smart. She is happy, well adjusted, and not holding a grudge about her previous neglect. People should be lining up to adopt her."
"Kitties: At first she was pretty interested because they kept being cats and antagonizing her. Held the leash and let her sniff around family room, she spotted one and quickly tried to scoot over but the cats are much quicker. I think given enough time the novelty would wear off and she wouldn’t be interested or feel it was worth the effort. Quinn is kind of like having a puppy…eat, walk, free time. Free time as in find a comfy dog bed. She would be a total couch potato is she could get on the couch :) So, she’s a dog bed potato!"

Quinn is available for adoption through our shelter but unfortunately has had no interest for the past 6 months. Her routine at CHS keeps her happy and healthy but the limited space we have to offer her is not conducive for longevity. We are hoping to find a rescue, sanctuary, foster family, or adoptive home that will be able to offer her a fulfilling life.

As you can imagine, caring for a pup in a wheelchair will take some extra patience and TLC.

Quinn needs:
- managing her partial paralysis, little use of her hind legs
- daily special need care, cleaning sores, physical therapy, cleaning booty
- incontinent, little to no control of her bladder or defecation
- strength to lift 50+ lbs

If you think you’re that magical, special human that can give Quinn the loving forever home that she deserves, give us a call at 231-946-5116 to meet her. Get ready to fall in love!
